Introducing an innovative smart trash bin that combines mobility and intelligence for efficient waste management. This advanced system is equipped with IoT technology, allowing users to control its movement seamlessly through a smartphone app. It also features an automated waste sorting mechanism, utilizing proximity sensors to accurately distinguish between metal and non-metal trash. 

This project was made in 2022 (during my high school) for an IoT competition held by UGM. With this product, we successfully made it to the Semifinal round

In this project, we implemented the following features:

  1. Distance Measurement: An ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the distance of a user’s hand in front of the trash bin, enabling a touchless interaction for opening the bin.
  2. Automatic Lid Opening: A servo motor controls the lid, which opens automatically when the ultrasonic sensor detects user's hand.
  3. Trash Sorting: An inductive proximity sensor identifies the type of waste (metal or non-metal). A servo motor then directs the trash into the appropriate room for segregation.
  4. Smart Movement Control: This bin is integrated with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to control its movement via a smartphone for added convenience.
